Look at this picture, and tell me what you think is going on here.....
Pick your answer from the following choices....
A. I fixed fried chicken livers for supper, and Mike is refusing to taste them.
B. I found buried treasure hidden in the walls behind the tile backsplash. We're rich!
C. I took a hammer to the tile backsplash while Mike was at work, and he came home to a busted wall.
*************
Time's up. If you guessed Answer C, you are correct. ;o)
Whoopsie!
I also took off all the upper cabinet doors, and today I've spent a good chunk of time spackling the leftover hardware holes.
Jack Jack has been so sweet, offering to help me find a good place for all the screws...
Unfortunately, that means he thinks they should all go in his mouth...
Naturally, Amelia Kate found a way to get into something while I was preoccupied. Just as I was finishing up with my spackle, I started to smell "man" and discovered she had busied herself with smearing Mike's brand new tube of Gillette deodorant all over a blue million things. Can you imagine how hard it is to clean up antiperspirant?
I am wondering if I can get some of those large stakes that you put in the ground that has a chain for you to tie up a dog (or small, mischievous children). Hmmm....
I better be careful...Mike is liable to get an extra one and put all three of us out in the backyard with food and water while he goes off to work. ;o)

Oh my--a brave soul you are to tackle @ home projects while the hubby isn't home but the babies are! LOL

This is the kind of stuff that happens to me after watching a few hours of HGTV - I think "I can do that!" and then realize about 3 sweaty hours into the project "I probably shouldn't have done that..." Post pictures when you're all through! Sounds fun!

I can't even express in words how much I needed that laugh. This is one time you can have a break before the next post. This one will tide me over for at least a couple of days.
Only you, Katie. Only you.

Oh my goodness!!! You have more nerve than me! Did he haul off and chuck the camera right after you took his picture?

This is hilarious! You weren't kidding about the sledgehammer. Sounds like the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, Miss Katie! Have an awesome weekend! Hugs!

Jack! I think you should get him a mini tool belt so he can help with your projects. Where is Amelia? I imagine she is somewhere pinching things with pliers. HAHAHA! The wall is looking a little scary but I am sure it will look great when you (Mike) finishes it up!

Very fun and at the same time very funny stuff! :) I guess there is more than one way to get a kitchen face lift! :) Why wait for contractors when you and the kids can work as a Demo team! I'm so proud of your "DIY" skills! I can't wait to see what you do with your kitchen! Just think how much moola you saved your husband! Haha! :) So very fun!

Sneaky girl ;)! That's exactly how things get done over at my house, too! If I start a project, then it has to get done, right?! LOL!! Most recently I took a hammer to our kitchen soffits above the cabinets (notice we got a kitchen makeover from that one!) hehe!! Can't wait to see how everything turns out!
Blessings,
Stacey

LOLLLLL!!!!!!! That is fantastic Katie. Was it just an "accident"?? ha ha
I might have to "accidentally" take a hammer to our horrible old refridgerator so that we can get a new one. :)
I love it! So what's the plan now? (After Mike lets you out of the doghouse)
New backsplash? New counters?

oh you had me laughing! we are in the process of planning our kitchen remodel to take place this September. Hubby caved when I threatened to take a hammer to it, much like you did with yours. I'm not nearly as handy as you are with the beadboard however!

Okay, there was a time when Ed came home from work and there was a big hole in the kitchen wall at our old (120 year old) house and I was standing there, trying to block the wooden shelf that I thought that I could "gingerly take down by myself"...
I think I recognize Mike's face quite well. ;o)
Love this post, mama! Seriously, you could have a design show and it would feature the most adorable mama and kiddos to boot!
