Daddy's Hands
I remember Daddy's hands
folded silently in prayer,
and reaching out to hold me
when I had a nightmare.
You could read quite a story
in the callouses and lines.
Years of work and worry
had left their mark behind.
I remember Daddy's hands,
how they held my Mama tight
and patted my back
for something done right.
There are things that I've forgotten
that I loved about the man,
But I'll always remember
the love in Daddy's hands.
Daddy's hands were soft and kind
when I was cryin'.
Daddy's hands were hard as steel
when I'd done wrong.
Daddy's hands weren't always gentle,
but I've come to understand...
There was always love
in Daddy's hands.
Do y'all remember this incredibly sweet Holly Dunn song? I know my sister and I used to sing it all the time. We love our Daddy. And, yes, he is still "Daddy," and we hug his neck just like we did when we were little. He'll probably never know how much he means to us.
You know how they say a girl looks for a beau that reminds her of her Daddy? Well, my husband is every bit as sweet as mine. In the past year, I've watched him grow into an incredible father. I'm sure one day, Amelia will hear this song and feel just what I feel when I hear it.
Happy Father's Day!

Hey Katie,
Thanks for visiting my blog!! I remember going to Sun Valley Beach when I was younger-so fun-I need to take my kiddies. I thought about you when I was at Cottontail Cottage in Bethlehem today. They had a basket of silverware and I thought WWKD? I will be posting my findings from there as soon as I take a picture. Love that place!!

Okay Katie, are you not just the cutest thing ever! First I have to say I adore your clothesline! How fabulously charming is that! I wish I could have one but they are not allowed in my neighborhood! How rude!
Your family is adorable, I am so glad you married a man that treats you like the queen you are! And that baby girl! Lord have mercy, what a cutie-pie!
Now about pie crusts...(I loved your comment!) I've only been making pies for about 5 years, and it does take some practice, but one day it will just click! There are some tips though that I hope to share in a youtube video hopefully in the fall. I am working on a WEB site to have all of my recipes and ideas organized and easy to find along with homemaking videos. I am really excited about it! I always enjoy and appreciate your comments...southern style of course! Take care sweetie!
Hugs!

I call mine 'Daddy' as well and will forever and ever! What a beautiful song, and precious photo.

I always loved that song. Beautiful words and well put. There is nothing to a little girl like her daddy, indeed.
